2016 is a landmark year for Sheridan, who celebrate 20 years in the worktop business. Europe’s largest manufacturer and supplier of luxury worktops to some of the biggest names in kitchen retail, as well as a huge network of specialist retailers across the UK. Managing director John Blackburn started the business with two employees in a 1,500 sq ft factory in Bradford back in 1996. Now, the company employs over 200 people at its 130,000 sq ft Normanton site and turnover in excess of £20m. Retail giants including Wickes, Ikea, Magnet and Homebase are among its customers.
Managing director John Blackburn says times have been hard, but by developing innovative and affordable products and maintaining the manufacturing capacity to supply its blue chip clients, Sheridan has emerged stronger and with a solid foundation for further growth.
“There’s no doubt the value of the market has fallen thanks mainly to the slowdown in housebuilding and home renovation projects in recent times. But sales have picked up again, helped a lot by the trend towards more open plan kitchen-diner spaces and the importance of design and higher-quality finishes particularly for worktops.
“We’re confident we’ll see double digit growth next year, particularly in bespoke worktops as granite and quartz are becoming much more competitively priced. It’s a great time to be celebrating this milestone, and we’ve lots planned to help our fantastic team and our customers share in our success.”
Sheridan will be running a number of special promotions to celebrate its 20th anniversary throughout the year for its customers.
