Apollo Compact is a Solid Grade Laminate surface, a highly performing worktop material at an entry level price point.

People choose Apollo Compact for its’ slimline 12.5mm profile, highly attractive designs, accessible price point and impressive mechanical properties. As a self-supporting material, it is also commonly used for upstands, shelving and panelling.

Properties of Apollo Compact Worktops

Veining

Veining characteristics vary for each material in the range, but can include directional flow, swirls, highlights, lowlights and can create mottled or marbled appearances. Smaller samples will often not be fully representative of full-sheet veining, and veins can differ between worktops within the same batch.

Drainer Grooves

As this is not a full-bodied material, drainer grooves which are recessed into Apollo Compact will reveal the core of the surface beneath (pictured). The colour of this core depends on the material chosen.

Solid Grade Core

As a solid grade laminate, Apollo Compact has the same strength throughout its full body. It does not however have a continuation of the design. Stone Gris has a grey core, Blanco Marble & White Peak have a white core, and Golden Campino and Piazza have a black core.

Storage

While Apollo Compact is self supporting, installers should be cautious of improper storage. Improper handling, such as leaning the material against a wall for sustained periods, can cause the material to flex.

Modular Sizes

Apollo Compact worktops are a maximum of 3050mm in length, and 650mm wide, while breakfast bars are 3050x900mm wide. Please be aware that any designs which exceed these dimensions may require additional joins.

Joints

Apollo Compact joints are secured with biscuit joints and epoxy resin. While the joints themselves are inconspicuous, veining on the surface is likely to make these more apparent. Where an L joint is positioned, the veining direction will change.

Heat Exposure

While Apollo Compact is naturally resistant to heat, installers should be careful to ensure that worktops placed near heat sources such as wine coolers, dishwashers and hobs are appropriately protected using heat resistant film. This will prevent the worktops from losing moisture and flexing or warping.
